Honda racing fans have plenty to celebrate this September. Alexander Rossi claimed his second career IndyCar victory at the INDYCAR Grand Prix of the Glen, heading up a Honda sweep along with Scott Dixon in second place and Ryan Hunter-Reay rounding out the top three.
Rossi was the driver to beat throughout the 60-lap event, even after having to make an extra pit stop when he didn’t receive a full load of fuel during his first scheduled service. Drivers also had to contend with a half-dozen cars going “off sequence” with their pit strategies due to impending rain and a pair of caution flags early in the race.
Dixon ran down all of the off-sequence drivers to climb from seventh back to second place between laps 34 and 40, crossing the finish line just one second behind Rossi. Third-place finisher Ryan Hunter-Reay had one of the biggest gains of the race, starting from seventh and finishing third for his best result since the second Detroit race in June.
“[I] knew I had the car to do it,” Rossi. “Thanks to Andretti Autosport, thanks to Honda. The car was amazing. It was so fast from the start of the weekend. When we got into the race, we knew we had a car to win.”
Whether on the track or on the road, Honda continues to impress. Anderson Honda is proud to congratulate the Honda racing team for this impressive win.
